Christina Hoang, The Inspirational Big-Time-Hollywood-Producer
Christina Hoang and I first met on the set of the short film The Neighborhood Garden. She was co-producer and I was on board as production designer. What that means is that Christina was part of the team that coordinated everything: cast; crew; locations; permits; equipment; and all the other little details that it takes to make movie magic happen. She also has a DIY habit of making jewelry, fashion, paintings, crafts, writing… you name it. This girl is creative and organized! Her dedication to live her life fully is truly inspirational.
I’ll come full circle, but I’m going to get off track for a bit. I have this longing to be surrounded by plants and nature. I grew up in rural Wisconsin and my mother and grandfather both had green thumbs. It’s in my blood and bones to want to put my hands in soil and patiently wait for things to sprout, grow and bloom. During our initial meeting, Christina and I were driving from one garden location to another. I was telling her about my desire to play in the soil and water plants. I explained to her that I lived in a tiny apartment with absolutely no outdoor living space to house any plants. Her response to me was that I “secreted” this gig as production designer so that I would be able to spend some time in a garden. She recognized the power of the Law of Attraction. She noticed that I had a place for gardening in my heart; that I believed it should be in my life; and that the Universe did the best it could to help manifest that dream. As soon as she said that to me, I knew we had a lot in common and that’d we’d get along just fine.
We’ve known each other for almost a year now and we have been each other’s spiritual guides. We feed off each other’s positive attitudes and are able to discuss the deeper meaning of life. Christina is working on becoming a Big-Time-Hollywood-Producer (and I have no doubt that she’ll make it). She recently did a 5 month gig as Producer’s Assistant with Warner Brother‘s for the show Work It! I asked Christina to share some of her thoughts about fear, doubt and worry. Here’s what she has to say about being motivated to make her dreams come true:
What motivates you to want to make your dreams come true?
“What motivates me to want to make my dreams come true is to prove to myself and to others that I can do it. To encourage people to take the leap of faith into the unknown and TRY.”
What steps are you taking towards reaching your goals?
“The first step I’m taking towards reaching my goals is surrounding myself with positive people who love and support me. I also make lots of “to-do” lists, read the trades and brainstorm and research potential stories.”
What is stopping you from fulfilling your dream career?
“The only person stopping me from fulfilling my dream is me. I justify “waiting” around for the opportunity [...] But if I wait too long, I may miss out on an even greater opportunity that’s right in front of me. Sometimes being too focused on something is not good. Finding the right balance is key.”
How are you dealing with fear, doubt and worry?
“I deal with fear, doubt and worry every day; it’s human nature. But it also keeps me humble and motivated to act. If I allow fear, doubt and worry to consume me, I will be paralyzed by it, never trying to “make it.” I have to remember that I’ve made it this far, so I might as well go all the way.”
Who or what inspires you to stay motivated?
“What inspires me are news articles/stories about passionate film makers breaking the mold to share stories that move people. I’m motivated to prove that working hard pays off [...]. My friends, family and my experiences inspire me as well.”
Any other thoughts you’d like to share with the fans of My Dreams Matter?
“The Universe works in mysterious ways. And the power of your mind is stronger than you realize. The resources for success are within you, but it’s up to you to decide how to access and utilize those resources!”
Couldn’t have said it better myself, Christina! Thanks for being open and honest with us. I’ve had premonitions of the very successful career you have in front of you. You’re going to go far! Your ambition is truly admirable to me. I know you are going to utilize the resources you have within you to become a Big-Time-Hollywood-Producer.
