Inspirational Interview with Ani Darcey
Ani Darcey is a creative spirit who’s dream is to make use of her unique talents in order to make a positive impact on the world. She is currently working as a teacher/dancer/actor/model/writer. She is determined to inspire and promote positivity. She’s well on her way to making all of her dreams come true, as we can see throughout this inspirational interview. I asked Ani to talk about her motivations and sources of inspiration. Her high energy is catchy and she offers great insight about believing in the value of yourself and your dreams.
What motivates you to want to make your dreams come true?
“Ideas. The world around me. The condition of the world around me. Seeing things that I wish were different, or bigger, or smaller, or not as significant, or more significant… things that I think I can have an impact on in some way through what I do and how I feel.
I also don’t want to struggle in life. I don’t want money to be an issue. I don’t want my family to have to worry about money.
I don’t want to be old and “wish I had”. I want to really LIVE, and do it well!! I want to be HAPPY. And I think the best way to be happy is to do what you want to do and the things you feel moved to do. I want to inspire and change the world. I want us to love each other and consider each other and be happy. I believe my dreams can help this.”
What steps are you taking towards reaching your goals?
“Manifesting, praying, working, writing, dancing, letting people know where I stand and taking opportunities when the come up. Sometimes I feel like I could be doing more, so I’m investigating what more can be done.”
How are you dealing with fear, doubt and worry?
“Eh. Well, I say eh. But I’m actually pretty good! It crosses my mind from time to time, but I have a lot of faith, and I trust that. I lean on it heavily and that takes care of the rest.”
What is stopping you from fulfilling your dream career?
“I don’t know if anything in particular is “stopping” me so to speak. Although I did have an extREMELY telling dream the other night that I think pertains directly to this question and what I may or may not be doing to keep myself from embracing how powerful I actually am. I’m still working through it, but it couldn’t have come at a better time.
Although I am doing something I love, it isn’t exactly spot on to what I would choose just off the top of my head. It’s a formula. It’s not creative. I want to create and express AND inspire. Money seems to come up, as in, I need it in order to help establish myself the way I want to, or in order to take the “necessary steps” to get there. But from time to time I have to spend time I have to spend time making the money to live the dream, where I could be living my dream out instead.
However, the more I try to just buckle down and tell myself that I just have to take whatever job I can get in order to make the money I need, the more I realize I’m just not willing to settle. I don’t believe I should have to do anything I don’t want to do just for the sake of “living”. If I’m not happy, I’m not living.
Fear is another thing. But it’s sneaky, so I’m a little hesitant in actually saying that’s what’s stopping me. It doesn’t show itself in just one way, or even two, or three. It’s very complex and requires a lot of insight and openness… a willingness to look at myself and admit that I’m scared, or fearful, and that sucks. It’s hard. But I try to see it as a growing pain, something that has to happen in order to get better. That’s why I’m looking more into the dream I had. I need to make sure that IF anything is stopping me, it’s not myself. I don’t want to be afraid of me. I’m fabulous ”
Who or what inspires you to stay motivated?
“My mom, my dad, Freddie Hendricks (director and mentor), Brittanie Richardson (best friend, and dare I say philanthropist). Instructors I’ve had. People who are positive. Or not… it just inspires me in a different way. I find inspiration all over! Even in the homeless person crossing the street who seems like life just couldn’t get any better based on the smile on his face. The motivation comes from the need. To do, to feel, to be active, to move, to be still. To enjoy, to love, to express, inspire, and grow.
I’m working on the exercises part. I need to dedicate time every day to my creativity no matter what else is going on. I do tend to be pretty good at having a book that I’m reading though, and that definately stimulates my mind.”
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
