Your Future Needs You. Defeat Procrastination!
There is no better time than now to start living your dreams fully. I know, I know. There are a million things holding you back. This person did this to you. Or, that one thing isn’t in your possession yet. These are not valid reasons. I don’t care how you justify it. These are excuses in the form of procrastination. Start right now down the path towards your dreams and you will get there. Stand in one place juggling invisible roadblocks and remain stagnant. That choice is up to you. It’s your decision to make your dreams come true. You can do it!
Imagine if professional athletes let procrastination into their game. The team is on the field, ready to win. The quarterback calls a time out and pulls the coach aside. He compares himself to the other players and questions his abilities. The coach reassures him, convincing him that he was chosen to be this team’s quarterback, and he has what it takes. The quarterback goes back out onto the field, ready to play. His team is lined up on either side of him, ready to support any move he makes. Even if at the last moment, he changes his mind, they are ready to react according to what is best for him and the team.
The clock is ticking and the play begins. Large football players start charging towards the quarterback, and in fear, he turns and runs the other way. The coach yells at him, asking for an explanation. He apologizes and realizes his mistake, then promises to not ever do that again. The coach asks the quarterback what play he wants to set up next. The quarterback can’t decide. He’s not sure which choice to make because they all have a chance of failure. The crowd boos and the coach tells the quarterback to sit on the bench for the rest of the game. He’s so humiliated and ashamed that he never plays football again.
Whether you are a sports fan or not, you know that the behavior described above is not that of a winner. Winners make confident choices. They believe in their abilities. They know their purpose and they respond quickly to the obligation that is their life’s calling. That isn’t to say that winners are destined to be in the spotlight. Moms who remain positive and encourage their children to be great are winners. People who celebrate life on a daily basis are winners. Winners smile at strangers and trust that all in life is good. Being responsible for making the world around you a better place makes you a winner. What choice will you make today? Share your inspiration on the My Dreams Matter Facebook fan page!
